since i got my faster pc and press-ganged into vistaPremium, and had to learn it, i am now converted from Luddite to Fan,
Vista is far better than xp and much more userfriendly,
from clean install to personalised has been an easy transition compared to xp,
much less nagging in vista much simpler to customise, easier to control and feels much safer and secure in fact a pleasure to use, although on my old slow pc, vista is still a nuisance and a drag...
so that is my tip for vista, wait til you have a fast computer and you will love it in about a week and a half :)
got any questions or seeking tips, ask here.

--Extend Activation (i hear)
'Are you testing out Vista's features and compatibility but not sure if you want to go ahead and activate it? Microsoft understands. It has built a software licensing manager into the new OS that lets you extend the activation period. At the Start menu's search bar, simply type slmgr -rearm to get another 30 days. You can do this a maximum of three times before Microsoft blocks further extension periods'

Dual booting Windows XP and Vista on the same computer will allow you to select from a boot menu what operating sytem you want to run. This menu is shown right after you power on your computer. Setting up both Windows XP and Vista on one computer can be a little ticky depending what operating system you have installed first. The next two sections will help you configure both versions on your computer, depending on what OS you have installed first:

Hack Available to Download the Official Vista SP1
That's right! There is a hack available that will permit you to access, download and install the official release of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 straight from Microsoft. The first service pack for Vista was initially released in pre-beta stage in mid July 2007, concomitantly with the original preview of Windows XP Service Pack 3. Microsoft subsequently dropped another pre-beta version of Vista SP1 in August and revealed that the first fully-fledged beta for the service pack would be delivered by the end of September. And the fact of the matter is that in the last week of the past month, the beta of Windows Vista SP1 Build 6001.16659 was open to in excess of 12,000 testers.
